Visual tests, fragments, creature studies and one-off ideas that live outside the film catalogue.
Machine Made Muse is the film work of Amsterdam-based designer and filmmaker Patrick Tang.
The films move between drama, horror, science fiction and the surreal, but the approach is always the same: character first, atmosphere second, technology last. Generative tools are part of the process, but never the point. The goal is to make them disappear.
I’m drawn to strange worlds that still feel lived in — imperfect faces, uncomfortable silences, bad weather, small gestures, things left unexplained. Images should feel photographed rather than manufactured, and every shot should serve the story rather than the technology behind it.
Machine Made Muse is an ongoing collection of independent films, experiments and visual stories made at the intersection of cinema and generative filmmaking.
The tools are new. The intention isn’t.
